Hello PurelyAlpaca,
The new alpaca "backpacker" socks you got (made in USA from Peruvian fiber) are REALLY nice. Well worth $21/pair, I think. Or maybe I should wait and see how they hold up before I say that, but I am really enjoying them. Put a pair on four days ago, and I don't want to take them off! (No, they don't stink yet...I've just been wearing them around the house with my slippers.)
They are very warm and comfortable; they may be the only socks I have that keep my feet warm WITHOUT the slippers (or shoes) indoors. I don't even need to wear two pair at once (as I do with most socks in the winter).
Also, something about the way they're knit, with different fibers in different places, keeps them from fitting oddly (with the heel up my ankle) the way most socks fit me. I think they'd stretch to fit a bigger foot, but they fit mine too! Pretty incredible, actually. Or maybe I just buy cheap socks, when I'm looking at them in a store.
Anyway, since I'm your first "customer" to wear a pair of these, I thought I'd let you know what I think. I love them!
